Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Tako JLPT you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Age and accounts

• You must be 13 or older. If you are under 16 (or a minor where you live) you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
• Registration details must be accurate. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity under your account. One account per person.
• You can delete your account at any time (see Delete account).

3. The service

• Tako JLPT provides study roadmaps, drills, flashcards, listening practice and JLPT-format mock exams for Japanese. The app is currently free with no ads. If paid features are added later, terms will be shown clearly before purchase (through Google Play / the App Store in the store apps).
• We may add, change or discontinue parts of the content or features (for example replacing materials with new original content). Material changes affecting you will be announced in the app.
• The service is provided “as is”. We aim for stability but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.

4. Study and exam results

Mock-exam scores are estimates for reference only — not official JLPT scores and no guarantee of real exam results. Tako JLPT is not affiliated with The Japan Foundation or JEES. Check official exam information at jlpt.jp.

5. Content and intellectual property

• The code, interface, the Tako mascot, logo, original Tako exams, explanations and materials created by the operator belong to the operator. Some other materials are used under separate rights or licences — see the Copyright page.
• You may use the content for personal, non-commercial study. Do not copy, bulk-download, redistribute, sell, or use the content to train AI without written permission.
• If you send feedback or bug reports, you allow us to use them to improve the app free of charge.

6. Prohibited conduct

• Unauthorised access, vulnerability scanning, bypassing rate limits or security; bots/scrapers harvesting content.
• Disrupting the service, distributing malware, impersonation, sharing accounts to distribute content.
• Any unlawful use.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice and a chance to respond where possible.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect damages arising from use of or inability to use the app (for example progress lost through an infrastructure provider's outage, or exam results differing from estimates). Nothing here limits consumer rights that cannot be excluded under the law where you live.

8. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. If we shut the app down we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app and on the website, with a way to obtain a copy of your data.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, where the operator resides, without removing mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live (e.g. Vietnam). We prefer to resolve disputes by first talking it through by email.

10. Changes and contact

For material changes we update the effective date and notify you in the app. Contact: support@takolingo.com.
